FIRST YEAR (PL-1) uring the first year of pediatric training, the housestaff officer acquires the basic knowledge and skills necessary to deal with sick children and their parents. He or she gains an appreciation for proper health maintenance and early intervention. First-year residents rotate through all of the core pediatric disciplines: the PICU, the general pediatric services, the newborn nursery, the NICU, the emergency center and four subspecialty services (Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology and Nephrology). The houseofficer has immediate responsibility for the care of his or her patient under the supervision of the senior resident and faculty assigned to the service. There are no electives, and there are three weeks of vacation in the first year.Pediatric Level 1 Interns Sort by School | Sort by Name |
