THIRD YEAR (PL-3) he third year of residency emphasizes the house officer's supervisory role. Time is spent on the wards, in the intensive care units and the nurseries, guiding the junior residents in the care of their patients. The PL-3 also helps teach medical students during their clinical clerkship in pediatrics. There is at least one no-call elective that is designed to allow residents to initiate or continue projects begun during their second year, or to take an off-campus rotation.
